CoverTrade

    Careers At CoverTrade

We are a commercial insurance broker just outside Romsey, arranging cover for trades, construction firms, property owners, hospitality businesses and professional services clients across the UK. We are growing, and we are always interested in people who want to win and look after their own clients, rather than process somebody else's paperwork.

    Why Work Here

We are small, which is the whole point. What you bring in is visible, the person who decides your pay is someone you speak to every day, and you are not one line on a regional office's board. If you want to be the person your clients actually ring, a small broker is where that happens.

We are FCA authorised and we hold a 5.0 star rating from more than 169 client reviews, which matters to you for a practical reason rather than a decorative one: enquiries arrive here on their own. Our website, our marketing and that review profile bring work in every week, so a new starter is not handed a cold list and told to get on with it.

Both roles are office based at Michelmersh, just outside Romsey, with free parking. Southampton, Eastleigh, Winchester, Totton, Chandler's Ford and Andover are all a straightforward commute.

    Open Roles

    Commercial Insurance Account Executive

    £30,000 to £35,000 plus bonus

Full time, Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm. Office based in Romsey, Hampshire.

An experienced role for someone who wants to win and look after their own commercial clients, rather than process somebody else's paperwork.

    What the job actually is

    • Winning new commercial business, both from the enquiries we generate and from your own prospecting
    • Fact finding properly, broking the risk to the right insurers, and presenting the options clearly
    • Keeping your clients once you have won them: renewals, mid term adjustments and supporting them through claims
    • Growing the number of clients you look after, and your earnings with it

    What we are looking for

    • Commercial insurance experience, whether as an account handler ready to step up or as an executive already running their own clients
    • Someone who wants to build client relationships rather than process paperwork
    • Comfortable on the phone with business owners, because most of this job is conversations
    • Accurate. In this industry the detail is the difference between a client being properly protected and finding out they were not
    • Acturis experience is helpful. We will train you on our setup either way

You will not be starting from nothing. Our website, our marketing and our review profile bring a real volume of enquiries in every week, and the better you are the more of them come your way. Equally, this is not a role for someone who wants to sit and wait for the phone to ring.

    APPLY FOR THIS ROLE

    Trainee Commercial Insurance Broker

    £23,000 to £26,000 plus bonus

Full time, Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm. Office based in Romsey, Hampshire.

A trained from scratch route into commercial broking, with a clear path to running your own clients. No insurance experience needed.

    What the job actually is

    • Learning how commercial cover actually works, and why the conditions on a policy matter more than the price
    • Supporting the team: gathering information from clients, preparing documentation, handling renewals and mid term changes
    • Taking on your own clients and your own enquiries as you become competent
    • Working towards Cert CII, the industry's professional qualification

    What we are looking for

    • No insurance experience needed. We will teach you the technical side
    • Clear and confident on the phone, because this job is conversations with business owners all day
    • Genuinely careful with detail. Getting a client's cover wrong matters
    • Organised enough to keep track of a lot of moving parts
    • Someone who wants a career with a professional qualification behind it, rather than just a job

Any background where you have had to talk to customers and get things right will transfer. Retail, hospitality, admin, contact centre work and the trades themselves are all fine starting points. We will train and supervise you properly, because insurance is a technical job and nobody walks in able to do it.

    How The Process Works

Four steps, and we aim to reply to every application within two working days. If you are already talking to other firms, tell us and we will work to your timetable rather than ours.

    1. 1

      You send a CV

To careers@covertrade.co.uk. A covering letter is welcome but not required, and we would rather have three honest sentences about why the role interests you than a page of formatting.

    2. 2

      A short phone call

About fifteen minutes, with the person you would report to. It is a conversation about what you do now and what you want, not a test. Ask us anything, including about the bonus.

    3. 3

      An interview at the office

Forty five minutes, and you will meet the people you would actually sit with. There is one practical exercise, which we will describe to you beforehand rather than spring on you.

    4. 4

      A decision

By phone, and quickly. If it is a no, we will tell you it is a no rather than leave you wondering.

    How To Apply

Send your CV to careers@covertrade.co.uk, saying which role you are interested in. If you would rather have an informal conversation first, call 02382 000820 and ask about the broking vacancies.

If neither role is quite right but you think you would fit here, send a CV anyway and tell us what you are looking for. We would rather know you exist.

We welcome applications from everyone, and we will make reasonable adjustments at any stage of the process. If you need something changed to take part, say so when you apply and we will sort it out.
